We find complex carbohydrates in products such as oats, rice, millet, potatoes, fruits, lentils, quinoa, amaranth or buckwheat. In addition to providing the B-complex vitamins, these foods contain folic acid, magnesium, calcium, iron, protein and fiber. All essential for the proper functioning of the body.
Unlike simple carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates have many benefits for the body. The blood sugar (blood glucose) level is controlled, rises slowly and provides energy over a longer period. The feeling of satiety lasts longer, hunger pangs are less present, and gradually fade. The benefit of containing fiber helps quell hunger and make you feel full longer.
